The test centre, opened at Veturitallit in Riihimäki, offers companies the opportunity to test the network solutions and software they have developed against defence sector requirements.

Millog has launched test centre operations at Veturitallit in Riihimäki, in connection with the Defence Innovation Network Finland (Define) Innovation Hub. The centre offers versatile testing environments that help companies develop dual-use technologies and innovations. The test centre is aimed particularly at startups and SMEs, including companies from the NATO DIANA accelerator and the Define accelerator. The aim is to serve companies from all NATO countries.

“The defence sector needs agile innovation and testing activities so that new capabilities can be brought into use quickly. Our test centre helps companies develop technologies that safeguard Finland and our NATO partners,” says Toni Piispa, Director of Millog’s Authorities and Industry business area.

As a strategic partner of the Finnish Defence Forces, Millog has a broad understanding of the needs and operating environment of the defence sector. Millog’s experts are therefore able to support companies in the development of new systems, and to help companies assess the suitability of the systems under development for demanding and security-critical environments and for defence sector requirements.

At the test centre, users can test their network solutions and software with a low threshold, either independently or with Millog’s experts. Testing takes place in a data centre environment on site or via remote connections. According to Piispa, the service is suitable both for testing and demonstrating finished systems and for developing new innovations.

The test platform provided by Millog supports, among other things, virtual Linux- and Windows-based server and workstation environments, Android mobile solutions, container-based systems, and the connection of external internet-interfaced devices and sensors.

Companies also have access to the GPU server of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), which enables AI computing and supports the development of AI applications. HAMK’s technology environment provides AI application testing capabilities for testing new language model and agent-based defence applications. The environment was completed during the summer, and it builds on the experience of RAIN.global Oy and the integration of the environment.

Together, Millog’s test centre and HAMK’s GPU server form the Define testing environment. The testing environment has been developed in close cooperation between public and commercial actors, and in the near future it will be expanded with, among other things, an additive manufacturing development environment.
