The winner of the DEFINE Hackathon powered by Millog is team Boom Mesh
The winner of the DEFINE Hackathon powered by Millog competition has been announced. Victory went to the incredible team Boom Mesh, whose innovative solution addressed the challenge of battlefield surveillance. The jury praised the team’s results and technical expertise, as well as the team’s strong spirit of working together. The members of team Boom Mesh are: Aarno Koponen, Annika Eloranta, Emil Lintunen, Miikka Leppinen and Rika Lintunen.
The winning team receives a prize of 5,000 euros, provided by Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy. They will also have the exclusive right to present their innovation to experts at the Finnish Defence Research Agency (FDRA). In addition, the team has a unique opportunity to meet Esa Rautalinko, CEO of Patria Oyj, so the team will get to discuss their solution with one of the sector’s leading figures.
In addition to the winning team, two other teams were also awarded. Here are the competition’s top-3 teams and prizes:
- Boom Mesh (€5,000 Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy)
- Sapper Intelligence (€2,000 Millog Oy)
- Kilpi SWARM (€1,000 Millog Oy).
Sapper Intelligence came to the competition from Germany, and this two-person team consists of Carmen Loew and Jacob von Manteuffel. The members of team Kilpi SWARM are Björn Sjölund, Gabriel Nyman, Niclas Jern and Tuomas Wuoti from the company Kilpi.
The City of Riihimäki offers all the winning teams first-class business premises at the DEFINE Innovation Hub and tailored support for business development and growth, creating a foundation for future success. This prize package promises more than mere recognition – it is a springboard to the future. All three top teams will also receive tickets to the SecD-Day event, which will be held on 29–30 January 2025 in Helsinki.
The spirit of the hackathon and the attitude of the participants showed how important it is to give space to new ideas, bold experiments and co-creation. All 18 teams demonstrated strong expertise in the competition and the ability to find solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow. The event was a true success, and every team can be proud of their achievements!
