For the first time in Finland, NATO tested and showcased the latest defence technologies at the Innovation Range event held in Riihimäki and at the Räyskälä airfield in Loppi. The event featured 17 growth companies from various NATO countries, whose solutions were evaluated by experts from NATO and the Finnish Defence Forces, partly under the leadership of judges with combat experience. Finland stood out in particular for its expertise in data processing and the use of artificial intelligence, which is a key part of modern defence. The companies aim to obtain NATO approval for their technologies, which facilitates international sales and cooperation with member countries. The event reflects NATO’s effort to speed up the transition of innovations from testing to procurement as the security situation in Europe tightens.
